Westward 1DXN2 Pneumatic Oil Extractor Review

Westward 1DXN2 Pneumatic Oil Extractor
Average Reviews:

Liked the convenience of this product. The suction tubes get kinked very easy and begin leaking or prevent fluids from flowing through effectively. The overflow shut-off valve built in is worthless, since you have to monitor the fluid level as it rises to the top otherwise fluid escapes through the breather device and what a mess that becomes.

Helicoil 5334-14 Save-A-Thread Thread Repair Kit M14 x 1.25
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After breaking off the spark plug on my motorcycle leaving only the threaded part I started researching how to fix it. After removing the head and drilling out the old threads I tried to re-tap the threads to no avail so it was on to a new thread insert. I wasn't thrilled with the idea of a "coil" fix was shocked when I found out the price for the coil kits so I was very excited when I found the Save-A-Thread kit with solid sleeve inserts. It worked like a charm. I had the hole expanded, re-threaded and the insert in place in less than 20 minutes. At half the price or less than the other "coil" kits I'd found the Save-A-Thread kit is a life saver.

Bar's Leaks and No Leaks are VERY good products that do what they say:protect your motor. I had a Buick LeSabre with a leak in the motor and this sealed it in a matter of only a few driving minutes. Highly recommended! I now own a Malibu and have already used this product again. Good stuff! Lucas also makes excellent motor additives.

Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid, quart (3501) Review

Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid, quart (3501)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just put this in my 97 Chevy Cavalier yesterday. My Chevy has 243k miles on it and is a 5 speed. The owner's manual states the fluid is good for the life of the car, but the life of a Cavalier is usually 200k or less. I asked GM whether to change the fluid and they wouldn't officially comment. I chose Pennzoil because they have a reputation of putting out good product and I read up on it.
http://www.pennzoil.com/products/gear_oil/syncro_fluid.html
http://www.pzlqs.com/Tech/Pdsheet/DomesticMarketing/Gear&Transmission/pdf/SynchromeshFluid.PDF
So far after 100 miles of driving, I have noticed the grind is reducing that I had before, plus the car is just rolling down the road better. The trans-axle sounds like it is doing less work.
Please note: If your car takes Synchromesh fluid, do not subsititute with anything other than the OEM brand or Pennzoil or Quacker State (which are both owned by Shell). Synchromesh has special lubricants for brass & yellow alloys- making this specific type of trans-axle lube absolutely incompatible with any other type of trans-axle fluid.
Price-- This is cheaper than the OEM from Chevy. Some Chevy dealers charge up to $20 quart.

MotorSilk® Engine Treatment (16 oz.) Review

MotorSilk® Engine Treatment (16 oz.)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was a bit skeptical at first, but it really works!
I bought this product as part of the bundle of the MotorSilk Engine Treatment, the Automatic Transmission Treatment and the Gasoline Additive for my 1998 Taurus. I had 120,000 miles on the car and was getting ~ 20 MPG. After adding the MotorSilk products, I am up to 23.3 MPG (16% increase) and I am not even through the 1,000 mile run-in period described in the directions.
When I put the MotorSilk products in, I noticed a change in my car's quickness and acceleration almost immediately. I am guessing that was the Gasoline Additive.
I can't wait to see how my mileage improves over the next few hundred miles!

I ordered a starter from DB Electrical for my lawnmower. The first starter failed within 3 months. I contacted them and they sent another one out with instructions that if the second one failed to return both for a refund. The second one failed and so I returned both. They wrote back and said that since it had been a year since the first starter was purchased it was out of warranty, even though the second starter was only in service for 2-3 months. So now I am out the purchase price and the return shipping. Don't deal with these people their service and products are terrible!!

Engine Restorer and Lubricant, for 4 Cylinder engines (00011) Review

Engine Restorer and Lubricant, for 4 Cylinder engines (00011)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Without a doubt, this is a super hi-performance oil additive! The only difference between this 4 cylinder product and the 6 and 8 cylinder products is the amount of fluid product you get. This 4 cylinder product is 11 oz., the 6 cyl. product is 15 oz. and the 8 cyl. product is 19 oz.. From what they tell me [on their website-[...]] and from my experience, the fluid volume is the only difference between the products by cylinders.

After years of using oil additives which increase viscosity and the risk of blowing oil seals in the engine [I've done that.], I tried this product. It does not increase viscosity, but it does increase the gas mileage [10-12%] and the performance of my 1998 V6 Plymouth Voyager which now has almost 140,000 miles on it. Also, it quieted the noisy lifters and made the engine much easier to turn over on very cold mornings.
During the summers, I do use a viscosity-increasing additive ["NO SMOKE"] which I find to be better at reducing the engine's tendency to burn a little oil [quart every 2,000 miles], especially at high speed for sustained periods. However, "Restore" increases gas mileage and is better in cold weather in every way. Now that Old Man Winter is nearly here again, I'll be repurchasing the little silver can very soon. Brrr!
[I have NO affiliation with any product or company]

ATP Re-Seal, 8 oz. (AT205) Review

ATP Re-Seal, 8 oz. (AT205)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Petroleum distillate rubber conditioners will temporarily soften rubber seals, then turn them to mush over time. Not AT-205 Re-Seal! I've used this in two motorcycles (31 and 27 years old), as well as two cars (a 1996, and a 2003), over two years ago, as a preventative measure. No problems, no issues, other than it helped eliminate one oil leak. I originally found this product in an auto-parts store, for around $7 more than I paid here (minus S/H). Even with the postage fees, this came out to be $6 less, per bottle, ordering three at a time, than I would have paid buying it semi-locally (had to drive to a neighboring town, 40 miles away -- no one locally carries it).
This stuff is non-toxic, and it is NOT made from petroleum. I don't know what is made from, but I know it works, as described. I recently had an O-ring that was shrunken, and leaking oil, on one of my motorcycles (previous treatments didn't reach this part which is more external). I traced the leak to the proper O-ring, cleaned off the oil from it, and then I wetted it with AT-205, using a paper towel soaked with it. I waited 20 minutes, then I put the O-ring back in place, and secured the part into place. I ran the engine for 10 minutes, without any signs of a leak. I then let the motorcycle sit overnight, and 5+ days later: no leaks, it is completely dry, where before, I would find oil pooled beneath the side-stand, in my garage.
I am now using it in both motorcycles' crankcases, as well as both cars' crankcases, and both automatic transmissions. I don't have any leaks, but I want to keep it that way! I would recommend this product to anyone. It is safe, and it is effective. Cheers!

Kat's 13150 1500 Watt Aluminum Circulating Tank Heater Review

Kat's 13150 1500 Watt Aluminum Circulating Tank Heater
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I pre-heat my 237/(300) Mack engine with the heater; I power a large circular sawmill with the engine; I set my timer (Lowe's exterior timer; $22.00)depending on night temperature. If it gonna get -20, I have it kick on at midnight; if -30 I plug it in as soon as I shut the mill down (4PM); if 0 to -10 degrees (the usual in winter)I set the timer to kick it on at 3AM. At 16 cents kwh it cost about 25 cents an hour to operate-cheap insurance! Some have had less success than I have had with tank heaters because they didn't follow directions-enough said-follow directions and it will work fine. This thing is the nuts! My big Mack prime mover kicks right of with not even a full turn; before the suggestion to put on this beautiful heater; I had to futz and fart around with salamanders, tarps and all that horsetwaddle, then to start it cold and listen to the 'Mack symphony' for five minutes while she warmed up some (a bone-wrenching noise as deisel damage occurs when started from COLD). Start your engine WARM with this Kat 1500 watt heater; also have one on the (CAT 944) loader. Remember to turn of Kat heater before starting engine lest you blow the batteries. Enough said-you cannot find a better engine heater than this innocent looking gem; 5 years and works great!

Kat's 15200 90 Watt, 120 Volt Dipstick Style Oil Heater Review

Kat's 15200 90 Watt, 120 Volt Dipstick Style Oil Heater
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am not sure what the other reviewer's problem was with his unit.
Because of his review I purchased this with some hesitation. However, I've used it now for a couple of months and it works.
It is not the best quality in the world. However, it is more convenient than having to install a tank heater, and, it works just as well.
The other reviewer may have received one that was not properly manufactured. On the other hand, he may just not have read the directions.
First, you must plug this in and place it in the oil reservoir while the oil in the vehicle is still hot. That is a tradeoff for the economy of a unit that consumes only 90 watts.
This is perfect for my tractor here in the San Juan Mountains.
When a storm is coming in, I always start up the old tractor to make sure it is working, then, shut it down and hook up the battery maintainer (charger) Deltran Battery Tender 12-Volt 800 milliamp Waterproof Battery Charger to make sure the battery is fully charged. After hooking up the charger to the battery, I remove the dipstick and insert this unit into the oil tube. It maintains the oil at a safe operating temperature of about 100 degrees. The heat seeps from the oil reservoir (under standard principles of fluid and thermal dynamics) into the surrounding metal.
I also use a battery wrap which warms the battery. Kats 22200 80 Watt 36" Battery Thermal Wrap If you charge up your battery, then, an hour or so before you use it plug in your battery wrap and warm it, you will be certain to have full cranking amps in even the coldest weather.
The result is a tractor that starts immediately during a raging storm at temperatures of -20 and below.
The 90 watts for a dipstick heater is 1/10th the cost of heating up the tractor if I used a tank heater (usually around 1,000 - 1,500 watts), and, it works just as well, and, the heated tractor is ready to work immediately (as opposed to a demand tank heater that takes (usually) at least a couple of hours to warm an engine).
Admittedly, this technology is from a bygone era. However, "if it works . . . . don't fix it."

Wow, this really takes a long time, I order a product, it came with free shipping(great), it took 14 days to get to my (area),next stop would have been at my door, it never made it that far. It seems the shipment was damaged in transit, so I followed it for 7 more days to return to (where it was shipped from)then waited 5 more days for a refund? If I had wanted a refund I would not have ordered the product in the first place. The solution to this case would have been to reship expidite (overnight) the item I wanted from the time you new it was damaged. I still want this item, but I will not wait the periods of time these transactions seem to take, we are in the computor age, correct? There is nothing at all wrong with the item, just the service part of this organization. Dennis C. Harrington

DuroMax XP10000E 10,000 Watt 16 HP OHV 4-Cycle Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit And Electric Start
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was apprehensive about buying this generator because they don't have a network of service centers... they tell you to take it to any small engine shop near you and contact them about charges under warranty. I called their cust svc and talked with them about the need for third party verification regarding parts needed and they assured me none was required.. I could fix it myself if I wanted.. just call them and tell them what I needed and they'd send it out. That seemed fair enough. It took a little over a week to get mine and it was delivered by USF Holland freight and arrived in pristine condition.. hats off to Holland. I got the liftgate delivery and he backed that big semi right up to my garage door...took his hand truck and set the small skid it was banded to in the center of my garage.. he required no help.. I never touched it until he was gone. These come packed in a cardboard carton and the packaging is well engineered.. thick foam all sides.. top and bottom.. all loose parts.. wheel kit.. etc.. in their own little nook in the foam. It is very heavy but you can get it assembled and off the skid working alone.. I did and I'm 62 yrs old. I pulled the front until it overhung the skid about 10" and assembled the wheel kit then pivoted one side of the rear until it overhung and assembled that strut then blocked the rear strut up with a 4x4 and pulled the skid out of the way and assembled the other strut. I filled it with good synthetic blend oil and put about a gallon of gas in it. I turned the fuel valve on.. it's located a few inches to the right of the choke handle. I pulled the choke handle all the way out and tried to start it with the key... the battery was totally dead. I pulled it out and put it on the charger and stuck the battery outa my lawn tractor in it and tried to start it. It was running almost before I could let go of the key. These Powermax units all have an idle control on them so there's no speed adjustments of any kind possible and none needed. It idles very fast.. all generators do.. they have to to produce current. It ran smooth with no fluctuating noticeable in engine speed. Next I took my voltmeter and checked the output on all the current-carrying poles on all the receptacles. I got a steady 119 volts everywhere. With a target of 120 I considered this to be excellent.. my house current won't hold that. The reason I bought this big unit in the first place was I had hoped it would start and run my big window air conditioner... it is huge.. 30k btu's. I plugged the extension cord I had bought into the L14-30 240v receptacle on the generator and ran it inside the house and plugged up the conversion cord I'd made going to the 6-30 plug on the air conditioner and turned it on. It fired right up with no bogging down and I never noticed the engine on the genny pick up at all. I let it run about a half hour... let the compressor on the air conditioner cycle off and on many times and watched the voltmeter on the genny. It never moved.. engine really never picked up speed either so this generator runs that big air conditioner without any strain on it at all.. I was VERY relieved. The other things I plan to run during an outage won't even approach the surge requirements of that big air conditioner so that issue was put to rest. It turned out that the battery in mine was no good.. wouldn't hold a charge even a half hour. I called MaxTool and told them and true to their word there was no hassle.. they sent me a brand new battery and shipped it FexEx at no charge. I wondered if maybe I had been sent a generator that had been sitting in inventory a year or so but no.. the data tag on it shows a MFG date of May 2007.. I bought it in late August so I got a brand new one.. just had a bad battery. I tried the pull start several times and it always starts on one pull. I go out about once every two weeks and start it and let it run awhile to get oil thru it good.. keep a maintenance trickle charger on it all the time. I can't speak to what it will do over time but outa the box it's everything it was promised to be.. I love it so far. I almost bought a Coleman but those units got horrible reviews.. rampant with quality issues.. leaking gas all over.. horrible vibration issues.. etc.. also they have no idle control and most no electric start and are overpriced terribly. I'm glad I bought this Powermax... couldn't be happier at this point.. good luck to you.

Zoom-Spout Lubricating Oil (ZS75A) Review

Zoom-Spout Lubricating Oil (ZS75A)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product is the equivalent of a 10 weight, non-detergent lubricating oil. For my HVAC system's air handler motor (drives the squirrel cage fan) which has a tiny port with which to insert drops of oil, this oil or nothing heavier than #20,non-detergent, is the best. FYI, 3-in-One makes something touted as suitable, but it is probably less suitable for electric motor bearings, & ditto for WD-40 brand products, according to HVAC maintenance websites and product maintenance literature. I've read there to never use oil with detergent in it for electric motors, and stick to 10 or 20 weight. From what I've been able to find, this little zoom oiler is the right item.
The zoom spout oiler's tube is longer than it looks - you can pull it out, that's why it's called zoom oiler. That's what you need to get it into tight spots. And the average tinkerer or home consumer doesn't need more than 1 or two of these little oilers, so vendor sites online elsewhere are often less suitable because they only sell in lots of 6 or 12 or more.
Regarding the 1st reviewer having hard time finding marketplace vendors who are reliable: Yes I found it very hard to find from dealer with a proven customer satisfaction history. It's hard to find for reasonable ship cost... the item is small and worth 1-3$ individually. But some vendors everywhere routinely tack on a 7-10$ ship cost which is 2 or 3x what they should charge - IMHO, should be comparable with buying a book on amazon marketplace which weighs more.
Per the MSDS product specs sheet, this item is made by Phillips 66 company in CA; the website shows who distributes. Easiest is to get it here through Amazon marketplace via Ace hardware (good customer satisfaction ratings), or your local Ace if you have one close enough. If the item isn't available when you need it in a hurry, check your local hardware stores; if all else fails, you can get it at hvactool for one or two, or for several, go to bluelakeproducts. But look here first!
