I spend a lot of time researching the best of fluids for my baby. I use Turbo Diesel Mobil 1 5W40 in the engine, Mobil 1 75W140 in the front and rear end and Mobil 1 ATF in the transfer case. Enough said. I love my truck and Mobil 1. If it is good enough for Porche it is good enough for me. Mark

(More customer reviews)I only use synthetic oil in my vehicles. It costs a little more, but I think it's worth it. Plus, I don't have to change the oil as often (I can comfortably go 5000 miles between oil changes), so I want to use a filter that can hold up. This filter fits the bill.
I'd give it 5 stars if it came with one of those static decals I could put on my windshield to remind me when the next oil change is due.

Lucas 10278 Engine Oil Stop Leak - 32 oz. Review

(More customer reviews)My '95 Nissan was leaking oil (not much) and it was driving me nuts seeing spots on my driveway every time I pulled in or out of my driveway. I checked its underside where the leak was coming from - it was by the timing belt cover. Now this is a major undertaking and expensive if you would have it repair by a mechanic.
Bought 3 qrts of Castrol 10/30W, Fram Extra Guard Oil Filter, and a quart of Lucas Engine Oil Stop Leak. Drained the old oil and replaced the old oil filter. Put 2 qrts of the Castrol first then 1/2 of the Lucas EOSL. The remaining 1 qrt of Castrol I put last. My car takes 3 1/2 qrts of oil.
The first week - there were still some leak but by the middle of third week, the leak was gone. I know this is just a band-aid solution, but given enough time and money I'll have to get that leak fixed in a proper way.
Some mechanics stand by this additive and some car aficionados hate this product like a plague. Just use it sparingly, meaning not too much, just the right proportion or ratio between this and your oil. Otherwise "Foaming" would result in your engine oil and you don't want that to happen. Your oil seals would swell and bloat too if you over use this additive and more oil leaks would spring up pretty soon.

Lucas Oil 10130-PK12 Synthetic Oil Stabilizer - 1 Quart Review

(More customer reviews)I use Lucas Oil Stabilizer in a 1996 Dodge Caravan, base model, 2.4 L DOHC 4 cyl with automatic. I started using Lucas' Synthetic Oil Stabilizer and Wal-Mart's Super Tech 10W-30 full synthetic oil when the vehicle had 140,000 miles on it. I purchased the van with 136,000 miles and ran a couple of regular oil changes through it to check the condition of the engine and flush some abuse out of it.
Between then and now the engine is much cleaner inside. It is quiet, smooth, and runs BETTER than ever! Part of this is due to good lubrication and partly to preventative maintenance. Take care of your vehicle! In conjunction with using the Lucas synthetic additive and synthetic oil I use an oversize oil filter. The OEM filter in Purolator is L10241. It is about HALF the size of a soda can. :( Checking, there is clearance on my engine for a Purolator L40316. It has the same gasket and threads as the L10241. Its original application was for Volvo turbo diesel. It is about FIVE times bigger and holds an extra quart of oil. :o Much improved volume of flow to the engine, especially cold, greater ability to hold dirt.
The van currently has over 193,000 miles on it. With 1,400 miles on the current oil change it has used about 5 OUNCES!
I attribute the long life of this engine in large part to Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer.
I also use Lucas Synthetic Stabilizer and synthetic oil in my riding lawn mower and push mower.

Fram PH6017A Motorcycle Oil Filter Review

(More customer reviews)My experience by no means is a proven scientific method of analysis, but the trend I have experienced with Fram filters has been one of reliability. I used Fram on everything from motorcycles, ATVs, cars and my 4x4 trucks. Not one has shown any indication of failure. My truck with over 300K miles is well within its compression window and doesn't blow the least bit of smoke. My motorcycle has over 50K miles and it too doesn't show any appreciable wear.
Does that mean Fram is flawless? Nothing is, but I changed 1000s of engine oil for myself and 100s of friends over 30yrs. I am presently using this 6017A series on a Polaris ATV which is exposed to extreme conditions in the Florida swamps with much success.
Maybe Fram fails easier than others when you push the envelope with going long on an oil change interval. Since I change oil religiously, I may never know what the failure point of a Fram filter is, and I am certainly not interested in finding out the hard way.
I trust Fram as good balance between quality, reliability and cost.

Purolator PL25288 PureONE Oil Filter, Pack of 1 Review

(More customer reviews)Purolator PureOne filters offer exceptional filtering at a fair price, members of the Bob is the Oil Guy forums can attest to that. They may not be as good as the Mobil1 filters, but those are much more expensive. I'm using this filter and Pennzoil Ultra on my 2005 Colorado, with 10K mi OCI and feel great about it. It was interesting to go to Purolator's website and see that this filter can hold 31 grams of contaminants. Thats 31 paperclips worth of metal! Its nice to know that the filter is made in the USA. I do find it odd that Amazon has the PureOne filters for cheaper than the Classics, but since they are only $5 a piece I bought 2 years worth.

It's one of those cheap screw top mechanisms that loosens again if you tighten too much. As such, there's a slow drip.
